About the Workshop

The main goal of the FPGA Workshop 2007 is to increase understanding and knowledge of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and encourage growth and development in the field.

The joint chapters of the Engineering Management Society (EMS) and the Society on Social Implications of Technology (SSIT) invite to join us in examining the business and technology elements from an entrepreneurial point of view, and the viability of such an ecosystem if it was to find roots in our "Silicon Valley North" context.

Topics covered include:

  • Opportunities and challenges in using FPGAs instead of processors, as presented in this article: "Higher Performance with Less CPUs"
  • Exampls of trends and developments in FPGA technology, similar to topics covered by this journal: FPGA & Structured ASIC Journal
  • Examples of FPGA applications, as can be seen in this website: Open FPGA
  • Industry initiatives, like the one seen in this net seminar: "Accelerate HPC Applications with FPGA Coprocessors"
