4. NRC-Institute for Information Technology Student Summer Research Jobs in
Computational Intelligence
NRC-IIT has two openings for guest student research jobs (no salary) in the
areas of Computational Intelligence, in Summer 2006. Computational intelligence
topics include: Neural Networks, Evolutionary Computation, Fuzzy Systems and
Rough Sets, oriented to data mining, including Visual Data Mining using
Virtual Reality.
Computing environments: Parallel, distributed and Grid Computing.
Application areas: Earth, Space and Environmental Sciences (Climate
Change, Space Weather), Bioinformatics (Genomics, Proteomics).

The only requirement that the student MUST have is experience with
C/C++ and/or Java programming. Exposure to Linux/Unix (gcc, make), VRML, SQL and
topics in computational intelligence is a nice to have, good plus,
but not obligatory, as the necessary background in these technical topics will
be provided at the NRC.
The interested students should send their CV with a cover letter with contact
information, including availability dates to Dr.Julio J. Valdés.
CONTACT: Dr.Julio J. Valdés: julio.valdes@nrc-cnrc.gc.ca
