ABSTRACT:
How to WOW your audience and set yourself apart from other candidates!
An elevator pitch is what I call your “prime-time” commercial in 60
seconds or less. In this short period of time, you have an opportunity
to get the attention of your listeners causing them to take an interest
in you and your expertise. Think of this 60 seconds as “You in a nut
shell”. In that critical 1st sentence or first 10 seconds, your listener
is going to decide if they want to tune in or tune out.
Why is this important? It is important for you to be clear on what you
offer including experience at it relates to the opportunity, what makes
you unique and sets you apart from the competition, and spotlights your
best attributes….all in 60 seconds or less.
So whether you are a job seeker trying to impress a prospective
employer; or a startup looking to sell your idea to an investor; or an
executive working toward the “next level” in your career; you will need
an elevator pitch to differentiate your offering from your “competitors”
in the marketplace.

IET Ottawa Chapter and IEEE Ottawa Section
CONTACT:  Ammar Gharbi (a.gharbi@ieee.org) and
Ram Achar (achar@doe.carleton.ca)
ABSTRACT:
The continuous shrinking of feature size to increase the integration
level of silicon chips has presented major challenges to the reverse
engineer, obsolescing simple teardowns and demanding the adoption of
new and more sophisticated technology to analyze chips. The following
types of analysis will be covered in detail:
· product teardown;
· techniques used for system-level analysis, both hardware and software;
· circuit extraction, taking the chip down to the transistor level
and working back up through the interconnects to create schematics;
· process analysis, looking at how the chip is made, and what it is
made of.
This presentation is an update of an invited paper given at the 2007
IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference (CICC) with more focus on
circuit extraction and cross-referencing between circuit schematics and
the 1000's of physical layout images obtained through generating a
mosaic of scanning electron microscopy across all device layers.

to your future. And the earlier you start learning them, the earlier you
can reach your goals. Carleton's WISE, IEEE WIE, and Career Services
have joined forces to give you the career building essentials and help
you stand out. Whether you are actively looking for a job or not, this
is an event you don't want to miss. You will hear from experts on network

are one way of extending our networks and fostering success: we will
hear from NSERC about funding programs and learn from women who have
had success in this area. Other hands-on activities will include practicing
our communication skills in the context of male-dominated technical fields,
trading effective practices for work/life balance and small group career
planning with experienced mentors and managers.
